Overview

The product context

I built core customer-facing financial experiences and worked across product, design, backend, QA, and business teams to ship reliable fintech features.

The problem

What made this worth solving

Financial products ask customers to trust a platform before funding it. KYC, identity, account, and transaction states therefore need to balance compliance, clarity, performance, and reliability.

My role

Ownership, contribution, and boundaries

I did not own Rova’s company-wide growth roadmap. My role gave me detailed product and technical experience at the moments where fintech growth succeeds or fails: onboarding, trust, funding, transaction reliability, and repeat usage.

  • Built mobile features across savings, investments, wallets, KYC, and onboarding
  • Translated product and business requirements into customer-facing experiences
  • Investigated technical and behavioural issues in critical journeys
  • Supported release planning, implementation quality, and production stability
  • Contributed technical judgement during cross-functional product decisions

Key insight

In consumer finance, reliability is not merely technical quality—it is part of the product promise and a prerequisite for growth.

Approach

How the work moved forward

  1. Mapped customer states and failure paths before implementation
  2. Worked with product and design to clarify high-trust interactions
  3. Built and tested customer-facing mobile journeys
  4. Collaborated with backend and QA teams on integration and release quality
  5. Used production issues and customer behaviour to improve subsequent decisions

Outcome

What the work enabled

  • Shipped customer-facing capabilities across core financial journeys
  • Supported clearer handling of identity, account, and transaction states
  • Built reusable product judgement around trust-sensitive mobile experiences

Reflection

What I carry into the next product

  • Trust has to be designed into every loading, error, confirmation, and recovery state.
  • Technical trade-offs become growth trade-offs when they affect activation or repeat use.
  • The best product decisions in regulated products are usually cross-functional.
