Launching a web platform for real-world social experiences in Lagos

Connecting discovery, intent, coordination, payment, attendance, and memory.

QU

Overview

The product context

I designed, built, and launched the Quest web product to help people discover places, coordinate attendance, make payments, and retain the memory afterwards.

The problem

What made this worth solving

People discover places on social media, coordinate in fragmented group chats, pay through transfers, and lose the memory after the event. Each participant in the experience also needs enough immediate value to join the loop.

My role

Ownership, contribution, and boundaries

Quest is an early-stage product lab. I own the product direction and work across discovery, supply, demand, pricing, partnerships, activation, operations, retention, and iteration.

  • Selected the customer problem and shaped the product vision
  • Designed and built the initial responsive web product experience
  • Ran customer conversations and launch experiments
  • Explored creator, curator, venue, and community partnerships
  • Tested acquisition messages and distribution channels

Key insight

The main challenge is not event software. It is creating enough concentrated intent for strangers, creators, and venues to see value at the same time.

Approach

How the work moved forward

  1. Mapped the fragmented journey from discovery to post-event memory
  2. Defined the smallest useful loop for guests, curators, and venues
  3. Built and launched an initial customer-facing web product
  4. Tested curated sessions, partnerships, outreach, and paid acquisition ideas
  5. Used observed signals to refine positioning and the next product constraint

Outcome

What the work enabled

  • Launched an end-to-end responsive web product
  • Created a live environment for testing social intent and marketplace coordination
  • Identified concentration of demand and supply as the central growth constraint

Reflection

What I carry into the next product

  • A two-sided product cannot solve cold start with features alone.
  • Operations can be a deliberate learning system in the earliest stage.
  • The product, the event experience, and distribution have to evolve together.
